Wild Cat

The Asian leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) is a small wild feline living throughout Asia from Russia to Japan and Indoneasia.They occupy a wide range of habitats from mountainous regions to forrests and grassland areas.

The Asian Leopard Cat is a successful predator of rodents, birds, reptiles insects and fish. Those living close to human populations often raid domestic poultry.

The leopard cat has been hybridised with domestic cats in an effort to make them more sociable and amenable to human contact while maintaining their original wild leopard looks.

In the wild the leopard cat is very shy and is easily frightened by humans.
